Band name : uroboros

2. Sai
3. Aman
4. Azim
5. Azee

SBA: How long have you all known each other? How did you meet?
Uroboros: Aman and azim are siblings, and Aman met johnny at an exam, about 5 years back, and told azim to approach him, we started jamming and found out we love the same music..

Along the way, we decided to get ourself a female lead vocals, that is when Johnny introduce us to a bright little girl, azee, back in 2008.

So we jammed alot, and our good friends also drop by the studio alot, to chill and see us jam..

Until one day, 2009, a friend of us brought this one buff guy, Sai, a guitarist as he claim. We started hanging out, and eventually start jamming and finally our members were completed.

SBA: How do you describe your music to people?
Uroboros:
Aman - pure attitude and highly aggressive.
Azim - sexy

SBA: Who are your major influences?
Uroboros:
Sai-syu(galneryus)
Johnny-toshiya(dir en grey)
Azim-yoshiki(x japan)
Aman- my pops, yoshiki & hide(x japan)
Azee- hayley Williams(paramour)

SBA: What live performance experience have you had? (Any industry showcases?)
Uroboros:  Mini-amp, Dewan raya rtb, rtb studio one(live recording), icc, empire base. That was just this year, before this we also performed at places like, amphitheater(Aman & azim), bandar festival stage, bsrc, and basically loads and loads of house gigs.

SBA: How do you rate your live performance ability?
Uroboros:
Johnny - 7/10, 40%
Aman - to me, it depends on my mood, cause basically if I see a stage, i plug my guitar, i crank my amp, and go wild
Sai- everytime on stage, we just try our best to give the best perfomance, and we're pretty heavy.
Azim - I don't do ratings, I just bang the drum on stage like I just don't care.
Azee- ....

SBA: Do you have any upcoming shows?
Uroboros: Amphitheater for new year's eve

SBA: Which songs do you perform most frequently? Do you ever play any covers?
Uroboros:  Our own songs offcourse..Alot of metal stuffs, megadeth, iron maiden...and alot of hard rock and roll stuffs..velvet revolvers..motorheads..etc..

SBA: Who writes your songs? What are the main themes or topics for most of your songs?
Uroboros: Mostly Aman..and the theme ate usually about hate and lies reflected from the corrupted world..

SBA: What advice do you have for people who want to form their own bands?
Uroboros: get some hard rock records and some metal records, and y'all be allright.

SBA:  What was the worst criticism ever received as an artiste?
Uroboros: We never had the worst comments, but an organizer once said "you guys are very loud"

SBA: Any last words?
Uroboros: The only thing that can make a stage explodes will always be the heavy rockers and the metal heads. If you see people play sweet music on stage, then what's the point.

Interview With Zul F

THE INTERVIEW:

1) How old were you when you knew you could sing?

WELL, I ACTUALLY STARTED SINGING WHEN I WAS 7. BACK IN THE DAY, I HUMMED TO EVERY POSSIBLE MELODY I LISTENED TO, WHETHER IT WAS FROM TV COMMERCIALS OR SONGS ON THE RADIO.

2) Who encouraged you to sing?

I WAS ACTUALLY SELF-MOTIVATED. TO BE HONEST WITH YOU, MY PARENTS WERE NOT THAT SUPPORTIVE OF MY SINGING. PERHAPS THEY WERE NOT CONVINCED THAT I COULD MAKE IT. BUT SOON AFTER I WON P2F GREAT THINGS STARTED COMING MY WAY. I GUESS MY PARENTS STARTED BELIEVING IN MY TALENT SINCE THEN.

3) How would you describe your voice?

I THINK OVER THE YEARS I HAVE PERSONALLY EXPERIENCED SEVERAL CHANGES IN MY VOCAL TONE, STYLE AND RANGE. IN SHORT, IT KEEPS EVOLVING, DEPENDING ON THE SONG I'M SIGNING. BUT IN GENERAL, MY VOICE IS QUITE POWERFUL, SOULFUL AND SULTRY AT THE SAME TIME. HOWEVER, I FEEL LIKE THERE'S STILL PLENTY OF ROOM FOR FURTHER IMPROVEMENT. WHAT YOU HEAR SO FAR ISN'T THE BEST OF ME YET :)

4) What do you fear the most?

FEAR OF LOSING MY VOICE OR NOT HITTING THE RIGHT NOTE DURING LIVE PERFORMANCES. OTHER THAN THAT, I AM ALSO WORRIED ABOUT TECHNICAL PROBLEMS E.G. MICROPHONE OR VOCAL MONITORS NOT WORKING, ETC. IF THESE THINGS HAPPEN, I WILL TRY MY BEST TO IMPROVISE AND BE PROFESSIONAL ABOUT IT.

5) Which singers do you admire?

I HAVE ALWAYS BEEN A MARIAH CAREY FAN. SHE'S MY NUMBER 1 IDOL. I LOVE SINGING BECAUSE OF HER. WHEN I WAS YOUNGER, I LISTENED TO HER VOICE -- THE TEXTURE, TONE, RANGE, STYLE, DYNAMICS, PITCH -- THEY'RE SIMPLY AMAZING! I ALSO LIKE THE SOUNDS OF THE LATE LUTHER VANDROSS. I DREAM OF BECOMING BRUNEI'S PREMIER VOCALIST SOMEDAY, JUST LIKE LUTHER.

6) What would your motto be?

THE MORE YOU GAIN, THE MORE HUMBLE YOU BECOME. I'M NOTHING WITHOUT MY DEVOTED FANS. TO HEAR PEOPLE SING LINES TO MY SONGS IS FLATTERING AND AT THE SAME TIME A HUMBLING EXPERIENCE.

7) What characteristic do you dislike about yourself?

I WORRY A LOT AND I TEND TO OVER-ANALYSE MYSELF. BUT THAT'S JUST BECAUSE I'M A PERFECTIONIST WHEN IT COMES TO MUSIC, ESPECIALLY WHEN DELIVERING MY VOCALS. IN SOME WAYS, I'M ALSO AN IDEALIST -- I JUST WANT EVERYTHING TO GO THE WAY I WANT IT TO BE.

8) What is your favourite piece of music?

I LIKE THE SOUND OF PIANO. ANYTHING THAT COMES OUT OF A PIANO I'LL SIMPLY BE FLOORED! I CONNECT TO IT MORE THAN ANY OTHER INSTRUMENTS.

9) Describe yourself in three words:

"ZUL F", AS A PERSONA IS... GRACEFUL, SULTRY AND CLASSY

10) If you went to the moon, what would you take with you?

MY HEART & SOUL :)

11) If you weren't a singer, what would you be?

I'VE ALWAYS WANTED TO BECOME A SINGER. I WOULDN'T KNOW WHAT ELSE I WOULD WANNA BE. I FEEL POWERFUL WHEN I AM ON STAGE.

12) What is the best advice you've been given, and who gave it?

THIS IS RELATED TO QUESTION NUMBER 6 -- IT WAS GIVEN BY MY MOTHER. SHE SAYS AND I QUOTE, "IKUT RASMI PADI...MAKIN BERISI, MAKIN TUNDUK"

13) What gives you satisfaction in your work?

I AM ALWAYS CRITICAL ABOUT MYSELF, AS MENTIONED BEFORE. SO I WOULD USUALLY GET A CIRCLE OF FRIENDS TO LISTEN TO MY NEW RECORD, FOR EXAMPLE, AND GET THEIR OPINION. THEIR REACTION IS VERY IMPORTANT TO ME. THEN I WOULD LISTEN TO IT OVER AND OVER AGAIN AND MAKE CHANGES WHEN NECESSARY. BUT MUSIC PRODUCTION, TO ME, IS INSATIABLE. YOU CAN NEVER BE SATISFIED. YOU HAVE GOT TO TRUST YOUR GUT FEELINGS SOMETIMES. AS AN ARTIST, IT HELPS TO TRUST YOUR INSTINCT BECAUSE THE MUSIC SCENE IS UNPREDICTABLE. THE GENERAL MASSES MAY LIKE WHAT WE ESSENTIALLY DISLIKE. WE JUST NEVER KNOW FOR SURE.

14) What is your favourite role?

I'D LIKE TO BE IN CONTROL OF MY OWN MUSIC PRODUCTION. I'D LIKE TO BE INVOLVED CREATIVELY AND COLLABORATE WITH TALENTED INDIVIDUALS. I ALSO LIKE TO WRITE MY OWN SONGS AND LATELY I HAVE BEEN GIVEN THE OPPORTUNITY TO EXPRESS MYSELF CREATIVELY. IT FEELS SIMPLY AMAZING TO WORK ON YOUR ORIGINAL PIECE.

15)What would you like to achieve musically, and why?

LIKE I SAID BEFORE, I DREAM OF BECOMING BRUNEI'S PREMIER VOCALIST. I'D LIKE TO BECOME A LEGENDARY ICON SOMEDAY AND I'D LIKE TO BE REMEMBERED FOR MY CONTRIBUTION IN THE MUSIC WORLD. WHY? SIMPLY BECAUSE IT WILL GIVE ME THE SATISFACTION, KNOWING THAT I HAVE MADE A PROFOUND IMPACT MUSICALLY AND CREATIVELY.

16) How would you like to be remembered?

I'D PERSONALLY LIKE TO BE REMEMBERED AS THE ONE AND ONLY "ZUL F" BRUNEI WILL EVER HAVE :)

17) What was the worst criticism ever received as an artiste?

PEOPLE'S INITIAL ASSUMPTION. A COMMON ONE WOULD BE THAT I'M A "STUCK UP" ARTISTE. THEY DON'T EVEN KNOW ME AND IT'S UNFAIR FOR THEM TO JUDGE ME THIS WAY. BUT WE CAN'T CONTROL WHAT PEOPLE THINK OR SAY ABOUT US. THIS IS THE PRICE WE HAVE TO PAY AS A PUBLIC FIGURE. I'LL USUALLY JUST TURN A BLIND EYE AND IGNORE IT. I KNOW MYSELF BETTER. WHAT DOESN'T KILL YOU ONLY MAKES YOU STRONGER, RIGHT? :)

SBA: first song ever sung?

A.AMILIN: At home 'ABC', but on tv and radio 'Indahnya di Pagi ini' by Ak Mohd Yusri.

Interview With Juju

THE INTERVIEW:

SBA: How old were you when you knew you could sing?
JUJU: Im not so sure, but I think it was when I sang to some classic laser discs songs when I was young? If I’m not mistaken, I was in Primary 2 then

SBA: Who encouraged you to sing?
JUJU: My family and friends have been my biggest supporters, who persuaded me to improve myself and who always keep me grounded. Then throughout the years, fans and supporters also keeps me going to sing as well.

SBA: How would you describe your voice?
JUJU: I’m not so sure. Lol. I think it’s deep and it has a good resonant tone? I guess listeners are a better judge to that.

SBA: What do you fear the most?
JUJU: In life, what I fear the most is having to lose the people I love and leave this world without having much faith religiously. That is my biggest fear.

SBA: Which singers do you admire?
JUJU: Internationally, Alanis Morissette has been my number 1 inspiration. She is multi-talented, a very honest and humble artist and practically I have always wanted to be like her. What inspires me the most about her is that she writes and makes music with her heart and soul, speaks her mind through her songs and melodies.

Nationally, Diana Latiff is one of my favourite female singers. She has a husky, soulful voice and personally a very inspiring motivator as well.

SBA: What would your motto be?
JUJU: One of my mottos in life is “Treat others the way you want to be treated”. I can go on and on about mottos and quotes that I live by but this one is what I’ve always tell myself since I was still a kid.

SBA: What characteristic do you dislike about yourself?
JUJU: There are many characteristics about myself that I hate! I am short-tempered, easily annoyed with things I don’t like, it is hard for me to hide my facial expression if I dislike something and I am very persuasive when I want something done.

SBA: What is your favourite piece of music?
JUJU: My heart is very close to alternative rock/pop although I’ve been making R&B/hip-hop songs. I guess I listen to alot of genres and blend everything with the current music.

SBA: Describe yourself in three words:
JUJU: Sensitive, persuasive and optimistic

SBA: If you went to the moon, what would you take with you?
JUJU: Hahaha. Quran? Because I bet I need to get close to God as much as I can before I die there.

SBA: If you weren't a singer, what would you be?
JUJU: I seriously have no idea. Lol. Being a singer is just a part time thing, therefore if I don’t do singing as a part time hobby, then I guess I’ll be a part-time kickboxer!

SBA: What is the best advice you've been given, and who gave it?
JUJU: I get many advices from people, close friends and acquaintances, but the best advices I get is always from my parents. Back then when I was a teenager, like every young blood, you tend to ignore advices or just get annoyed by it but as you grow older, you tend to realize every single bit of their advices are for your own good and it helps. Hence, all advices from my parents are the best for me.

SBA: What gives you satisfaction in your work?
JUJU: The fact that people appreciate my work and what I do, and how much time and effort I’ve put into it, that satisfy me. Not only does it satisfy me, but I’ve reached what I wanted. A recognized piece of work, whether it is music, or any kind of work I have to deliver.

SBA: What is your favourite role?
JUJU: In life? I guess, to be myself. I play myself is my favourite role because I don’t have to lie to be someone else I’m not.

SBA: What would you like to achieve musically, and why?
JUJU: I would perhaps, like to be recognized by my composition, from the lyrics I’ve wrote and to have to inspire people by what I have to deliver from within. It is in a way, satisfying to know you have expressed yourself in a way others recognize the value of. That is what I have always wanted, and still is, what I want to achieve musically.

SBA: How would you like to be remembered?
JUJU: Perhaps I would just like to be remembered as what you believe I am to be. I can’t mull over reasons to make people remember me as who I want myself to be remembered. As long as I keep my ground, be myself, respect everyone and my surrounding, insyaAllah I’ll be remembered in a good way.

SBA: What was the worst criticism ever received as an artiste?
JUJU: I guess it’s the fact people think you do the things you do for fame, and that you are arrogant after being called as an ‘artiste’. But if you get to know a person on a personal level, you tend to change your mind eventually. People tend to assume and judge quickly too, especially now that you are in the public eye. As far as I’m concerned, other Bruneian artists feel the same way because that is just the way it is when you’re a recognized. You can never shut people’s mouths and change their minds the way you want them to be. Therefore as an ‘artiste’, you just have to be open about things and accept criticism to be a better person and learn from it

SBA: First song ever sung?
JUJU: Lol. If I’m not mistaken, it is Copa Cabana by Barry Manilow. My first karaoke song!

Interview With Putri Norizah

THE INTERVIEW:

SBA: How old were you when you knew you could sing?
PUTRI: when i was 2? coz that was when i started to play with microphone... thats what my mom said.. haha :P

SBA: Who encouraged you to sing?
PUTRI: My parents, of course... :)

SBA: How would you describe your voice?
PUTRI: Versatile?

SBA: What do you fear the most?
