KatakIjau Humanitarian Relief Support Group is organising a charity drive event for Merapi and Mentawai Disaster Relief Fund, Fund for LLS Autism Centre and Fund for KatakIjau School Support Program on Friday, 31 December 2010 at 8 pm JPCC Playground - Mini Amphiteather

The theme of this event is GEN Y MUSIK FIESTA – A charity contribution by Young Generation who involves and loves Music, Singing, Dancing, Disc Spinning and Performing Arts. The night will fill of energetic performance by the young people that Brunei owned. And it is all about charity and caring community a contribution to the needy.

THE INTERVIEW:



SBA: How old were you when you knew you could sing?

FAIZUL: i first knew that i can sing, when i was 8 i think :D where my dad bought a karaoke set machine those days it was still a video tape(VCR) and remembered i sang isabella from search LOL



SBA: Who encouraged you to sing?

FAIZUL: encouraged? well i wouldnt say someone encouraged me to sing, i think it runs in the family i guess.. cos most of my cousins even my mom sings she once won her self in some singing cmpetitions ages ago ,that explains where my talent comes from :D



SBA: How would you describe your voice?

FAIZUL: honestly i never liked my voice, it took me years to finally get to know what type of genre that really suits, i always thought my self as a singer like anuar zain etc.. lol.. apparently NOT... it really took me a while to understand my vocals.. thanks to reality tv competitions now a days.. it really gave me an impact, so how would i describe my voice.. is it unique?? i dont know you tell me, but im pleased dat ppl can accept my talent and passion for music ,so dats just matters to me :D



SBA: What do you fear the most?

FAIZUL: Fear of losing my voice :D



SBA: Which singers do you admire?

FAIZUL: brendon urie(, Tyson Ritter(, Faizal tahir , kaer, christian bautista,duta :D



SBA: What would your motto be?

FAIZUL: i always hold this motto.. its from my brother.. life is a game , and you gotta play it right, you either lose or win, if u lose dat means ur not playing the game it right, always put ur head in the game, where theres a will theres always a way



SBA: What characteristic do you dislike about yourself?

FAIZUL: im blessed with everything i have..



SBA: What is your favourite piece of music?

FAIZUL: i like R n B especially those indonesian RnB singers



SBA: Describe yourself in three words:

FAIZUL: -friendly ( im not ambung, ppl call me ambung now a days im NOT)

-open minded

- i like gadgets



SBA: If you went to the moon, what would you take with you?

FAIZUL: LOL.. i dunno why would i go to the moon lol...



SBA: If you weren't a singer, what would you be?

FAIZUL: singer or not a singer, i will still be the same person as what i am today.., most important is to stay true to my self



SBA: What is the best advice you've been given, and who gave it?

FAIZUL: my brothers motto of life at question 6



SBA: What gives you satisfaction in your work?

FAIZUL: definitely things that i do by my self titik peluh sendiri...

FAIZUL: my favourite role.. i like to help my friends if they are in a compliated situation dats just me i guess, im a gemini so yea lol



SBA: What would you like to achieve musically, and why?

FAIZUL: Definitely to be known internationally.. go huge

FAIZUL: i havent thought about that one yet...



SBA: What was the worst criticism ever received as an artiste?

FAIZUL: i havent had one.. im not asking for it... but im just blessed..

Journey - A Band Once (ABO)

A Band Once started off with two kids, determined to experience the feeling of performing at a show despite their limited musical knowledge and know-how.

These kids, Syafiq and Izzat, hung out often as they were kampong friends who met through Syafiq's cousin and Izzat's neighbour, Hamizan.



The year was 2003-2004 when they initially jammed out as a three-piece, with another kampong friend Izud, now the band Undergrip's drummer, every chance they could.



Because Izud had to concentrate playing with Undergrip, the two boys had to find a replacement drummer. Luckily Izzat was closely acquainted with Azam from Airholes, who went to the same form six school as ABO drummer Padil.



Padil and Izzat were introduced at a function sometime in 2005, where Izzat and Syafiq also got closer to the twin brothers Adi and Khai, who are now ABO's bassist and keyboardist respectively.



August 2005, Syafiq and Izzat were offered a slot to perform at a gala night, held at a small hall in the ICC. Padil agreed to play the drums for the event, and the trio also sought help from Syafiq's cousin Yazid to play the bass for some songs and Airholes' Midi to sing a few.



The five got together and practised at Starmakers, which offers free one hour jamming at the blue room with ten receipts of jamming in the red room, or something like that.



In order to claim the free hour, the band name used needs to be the same.



Syafiq figured, "Hey, we're only gonna be jamming this once," while being pressured by the rest with lots of silly band names, "ok lah, let's just call ourselves 'A Band Once', we're all not gona be doing this again anyway."



But hooo boy, Syafiq figured wrongly. Hantap.



After that gig, the original trio really felt the hype of performing in front of everyone, and from that point onwards, Adi volunteered to play the bass for another gig that the band played at, and another gig Khai played the keyboards for us.



A Band Once played small events and gigs as a five-piece, but Syafiq knows better about his singing abilities thus searches on for a new vocalist.



And then one day, ABO played for a prom night and met Faizul who was singing for another band which was formed just for the night.



After that gig, we started hanging out with Faizul and Adib, which led to music talk, where Faizul performed a few songs with the band for an AIDS Council event.



ABO and Faizul then went on to more performances, most significant was the MD Prom at the Empire Hotel in 2006.



Recently winning the Chosen Newcomer Award at the Pelangi Awards 2008/2009, A Band Once is determined to give more to their fans, at the same time produce more high quality music and maybe one day infiltrate the international market.



And now their journey continues..
